Following on from Man of Medan and Little Hope, the next game in the Dark Pictures series is coming to PC and consoles just in time for Halloween on October 22. The third installment in Supermassive Games’ horror anthology is set during the 2003 Iraq War, and follows a group of American and Iraqi soldiers as they investigate a strange, subterranean lair that turns out to be an ancient temple. Take a look at the reveal trailer below to get a feel for the spooky game. “In the shadow of the Zagros mountains a military unit comes under fire from Iraqi forces,” the press release teases. “The resulting firefight causes an Earth tremor where both sides fall into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. With all communication severed, our protagonists are trapped in a terrifying underworld they must navigate to escape – unaware that something ancient and evil has awakened in the shadows and has found a new prey to hunt.” There’s a standard edition (which is just the base game) as well as a boxed collector’s edition that comes with stickers, a poster, a pin, and a diorama of the ancient Mesopotamian diety, Pazuzu (because why not, right?) You can check that out here. The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will be out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC on October 22.
