M2H and Blackmill Games, the teams behind a pair of WW1 shooters, are working on a third game. Isonzo is their new project, continuing the tradition of authentic WW1 combat, taking the fight to the Italian front. Like its predecessors, Isonzo is a squad-based shooter with lethal combat, big-scale clashes and an attention to detail in weaponry, uniforms and even combat tactics. The game covers the southern front of WW1, where the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire fought over the Isonzo river. You’ll visit - and likely destroy - beautiful idyllic Italian towns, and snowy Alpine peaks. The developers said they wanted to bring together the close-quarters chaos of Verdun, with the scale seen in Tannenberg. There’s a new game mode that sounds similar to Battlefield 1’s Operations, where you’ll take part in historical offensives during the war, or defend against invading armies. Isonzo is coming to Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
