The massive, planet-eating villain will finally see arrive in a one-time-only Nexus War finale live event that’s set to kick off on December 1, 2020, at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm GMT. Galactus arrives as part of the latest in a series of Marvel x Fortnite crossovers that have been on-going throughout Season 4 of Fortnite: Chapter 2. Not too much information has been shared by developer Epic Games, but we have been given a little briefing on how we can prepare for the event. “Galactus is closing in on the Island and the fate of all Reality lies in the balance,” notes the developer. Interesting. Whether Galactus will destroy the map (similarly to last year’s black hole event) or simply trigger some major changes to the space, similarly to Chapter 2, Season 2’s flood, has yet to be determined As usual with these events, Epic recommends that players eager to see everything in action log into Fortnite at least 60 minutes prior to the start of the event, with the event playlist itself actually going live 30 minutes before the times listed above. The official Fortnite and Marvel Twitter accounts have been sharing elements of the lore relating to Galactus’ presence in the Fortnite universe, and you can read more about the Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 4 comic teasers at the link. Don’t expect this to be the end of the Fortnite x Marvel content in the game, either. As spotted by Eurogamer, Epic Games creative director Donald Mustard outlined the future of the game in a recent podcast – and suggested the Marvel crossover will have an impact for months and years to come. “The reason we called this season Nexus War is that this is just the start of lots of stuff we have planned for many years of Marvel integration,” Mustard explained in an appearance on the official This Week in Marvel podcast. “This is not the end, this is the beginning. We thought a really good POV-style character which could set this up [earlier this year] was Deadpool, kind of fourth-wall breaking. And then Cap in July, building up to this moment…” And there’s more to come, too. Expect to hear more soon, and see the foundations for the future of the game laid with this incoming event.
